The world is slowly celebrating the success of women in sports. From conversations about pay equity between men and women individually and on teams, to visibility on broadcasts and in other media, to including women to voice the promos that advertise sporting events, the tide is changing. And I’m diving in to offer my voice for sports promos. Whether it’s for the NFL or PGA, MLB or NHL, a woman’s voice can command attention and get results. Plus, we’re knowledgeable. More women are watching, playing, and coaching sports than ever before.
I grew up watching football games with my dad. It was a great way for us to bond. I played volleyball in high school and college, and I’ve helped girls grow skills in the game through coaching and mentoring. My daughter is learning golf and is excited because she has women she can look up to and model her game after. From watching to playing and coaching, women are making an impact in sports.
A 2015 Gallup poll found that 60 percent of Americans overall were sports fans, including 51 percent of women. The percentage of women sports fans has increased to 60 percent, according to stats from statista.com. The sports industry is one of the biggest industries in the United States, and there is room for women soar. More women are playing sports and following sports than ever before. We are champion players, coaches, and cheerleaders. We have a love for the game that continues to grow. I’m a fan, I’m a player, and I’m a sports mom. But I have more talent to give.
